The "Restore the Tour" Rally: Giving Tuesday 2025
We refused to cut their mentorship. Now we need you to open the world.
Join the R.I.S.E. community this Giving Tuesday for a critical mission. We are rallying to reverse the impact of government funding cuts and restore a life-changing experience for 160 Berkeley youth.
The Situation
2025 brought significant cuts to government funding for nonprofits. R.I.S.E. (Responsibility, Integrity, Strength & Empowerment) faced a budget shortfall that forced a heartbreaking choice: reduce our daily academic counseling or suspend our Spring College Tours.
We chose to protect the daily counseling that has secured a 100% high school graduation rate for our seniors. But that meant the College Tour; often the first time our students step onto a university campus; was cut.
The Mission Today
We cannot let funding cuts narrow our students’ horizons. Today, we are asking you to help us raise $10,500. This isn’t for overhead or administrative costs. This amount specifically covers the transportation, logistics, and meals required to get our students to UC Davis and SF State this spring.
How to Participate
You don’t need to attend a gala or buy a ticket. You just need to show up for our students right here.
Donate: Select an amount below.
Share: Help us spread the word to hit our goal by midnight.
Your Impact
$45 restores one student’s spot on the tour (includes lunch).
$80 covers the application fee for a senior inspired to apply to a UC.
$1,620 becomes a “Tour Champion” (funds an entire cohort’s travel).
Can we count on you to turn a “budget cut” back into a “booked trip”?

Our 2025 Día de los Muertos Celebration!
Join Us to Celebrate Community & Culture: The R.I.S.E. Día de los Muertos Festival
Our Día de los Muertos celebration is a vibrant, immersive festival where culture, art, and community come alive. It is a free, family-friendly event where every sense is engaged—from the scent of marigolds filling the air to the powerful sounds of live Mariachi music.
This is a place to connect and celebrate. You can marvel at the polished chrome and intricate murals of a classic Lowrider Car Show, feel a sense of peace while viewing the breathtaking community altars (ofrendas), and explore a marketplace of delicious food and unique artisanal crafts.
But it’s more than a spectacle. It is a space for connection and well-being. We offer whole-person healing services like free massages and acupuncture, provide haircuts and hair braiding, and host fun, culturally rich activities for children.
In short, it’s a day-long celebration of life, memory, and the enduring spirit of our Berkeley community. Join us on Saturday, October 25th, for an unforgettable experience.
